Sow outdoors in very early spring in full sun and loose, evenly moist soil with plenty of organic matter. Before planting, loosen the soil to a depth of 12″ to help the roots grow straight. Be patient! Carrots can be slow to germinate.
Loosen the soil with a garden fork before harvesting. Cut off the green tops 1/4-1/2″ from the top of the carrot, and rinse and dry the root before storage.
